About Heading Home Minnesota

Heading Home Minnesota is a coordinated public-private partnership to end homelessness in Minnesota. It is the umbrella for Minnesota’s Roadmap for Ending Homelessness as well as the statewide Business Plan to End Long-Term Homelessness and all local plans to end homelessness.  Eight counties (Anoka, Hennepin, Olmsted, Ramsey, Saint Louis, Scott-Carver, and Steele) and six regions of the state (Northeast, Northwest, West Central, Central, Southeast, and Southwest) have developed and are implementing plans to end homelessness in their communities. Three groups lead and coordinate aspects of the work to end homelessness in our state:

1) The Heading Home Minnesota Coordinators Council brings together the staff leaders of all state, county, and regional plans to end homelessness.  The purpose of the Council is to educate and inform each other, communities, stakeholders, legislators, and public policy advocates on what works to end homelessness.  Collectively, the Council will generate new strategies to end homelessness as needed.

2) The Heading Home Minnesota Community Leaders Council brings together community leaders from philanthropic, business, faith, civic, nonprofit and public sectors who are deeply concerned about the plight of homeless youth, adults, and families with children in our communities.   The goals of the Council are to:

o   Influence business, philanthropy, faith communities, and policymakers to increase their commitment to ending homelessness in Minnesota.
o   Promote broader awareness and ownership on a statewide basis of the vision to end homelessness; and,
o   Promote public-private partnerships and synergies in support of this vision.

3) The Minnesota Interagency Council on Homelessness brings together nine state agencies whose work impacts homelessness.  The purpose of the Council is to maximize and align state resources.

Heading Home Minnesota is a statewide initiative to end homelessness and is the umbrella organization for 14 local initiatives.
